Richie was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on 11th July 1959, and raised in Woodbridge NJ.
He is a self taught musician and plays many instruments such as all guitars, piano, bass, drums, trumpet, saxophone and accordion. He got his first guitar in 1971 when he was twelve, and started playing in bands three years later.
He has toured all over the world with Bon Jovi, and together, over the years, they have collected over sixty-eight gold and platinum albums!!!
Richie’s musical influences come from listening to a wide variety of music, such as The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and "a lot of blues stuff".
He recorded his first solo album, "Stranger in this Town" in 1991 and when Eric Clapton agreed to play lead guitar on the track ‘Mr. Bluesman’ a long time dream was filled.
In 1998, he released his second solo album, Undiscovered Soul. The album was produced by Don Was, and features contributions by Chuck Leavell of the Rolling Stones, Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.

* On May 6, 2004, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of
Humane Letters from Kean University.
